Bhutan: Birding under buddha’s gaze + Thailand Extension

Bhutan retains a rare air of mystery in this age of information. Off-limits to foreigners until 1974, tourism developed slowly. It wasn't long until birders discovered it, thanks to its stunning natural beauty, extraordinary extent of high-quality forest, and abundance of birds that are limited to the Eastern Himalayas and rare outside of Bhutan.

The Thailand extension offers the opportunity to see not only Spoon-billed Sandpiper, one of the world’s rarest and more charismatic shorebirds, but also a fantastic diversity of lowland rainforest birds that don’t occur in Bhutan. And you will get to eat lots of delicious Thai food!

Itineraries will be updated with plenty of time before the next departure. Our itineraries usually show minimal changes between years, but some substantive updates can occur as birding access and information evolves. For any specific questions regarding these trips, please contact us.
